Precast Concrete pole to Concrete Footing Connection Design

Hello,

I'm working on a foundation remediation for a communication concrete monopole. The proposed design would consist on adding a concrete ring around the existing concrete pole as shown in the drawing. We are currently working out the details regarding the connection between the existing concrete pole and the proposed concrete ring. We are proposing 2 steel collar ring attached to the pole with rebar welded to it and splice with the required footing reinforcement as shown. My question is, should I be concern about brittle failure and fatigue at the welded connection? See below for details:

Your embedded helical piles create a plane of weakness 1' up... can you just use shear connectors at the U/S of the pile cap? 3' thick or 4' thick? Do you need to use the straps and rebar? Can you just add rebar to the cap? Can the pole be braced and supported so it doesn't 'wobble'? Can the pole be embedded in cocrete? even if 5' thick? Is the bottom of the pole 'hollow' can can concrete flow into the bottom part for added rigidity?

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Let me explain what i understand;

You want to use two collars tightening the prestressed pole to develop friction . The thk. of the ftg is shown 3 ft ( on section) , while 4 ft on plan, the dia of the ftg 9 ft 6 in. so the width of annular ring (9.5-4.5)/2=2.5 ft

Without knowing the foundation detail, i suspect the dia of pile cap is not big enough to provide outriger action. I will suggest a bigger dia , do not use collars instead ,roughen the surface of the pole to develop friction, fill inside of the hollow pole to the level 3 ft above grade..

If you provide the details of the existing foundation , you may get better responds..
