Dear ALL,

As the following image depicts is it compulsory to weld the stems of TT prefabricated slabs to the main girder corbel locations, if it is mandatory by code which section of code (e.g. PCI) exactly governs for that ?

Your comment will also be appreciated.

Generally, double tee and girder welding connection is not recommended.

Thanks for shedding light on that, AFAIU there is not totally clear definition to that or any code reference, bcoz in my opinion that corbels are very narrow not that weld will hold them but it will provide partial staiblity to some extent.

Joe,
But, as DTs can move due to temperature change or applied dynamic loadings,
this rigid restrained welding connection could cause failure around the connection rather than improved stability.

I thought it was common practice to weld one end of the TT, but not the other, and alternate which side of adjacent TT got welded.
I`m not aware of any specific PCI reference that comments on the practice.
