Hello,

Please advise me, concerning the cost of prefabrication and erection work of CS (carbon steel) and SS (stainless steel) piping.

A bad welder welds one joint of welding (pipe 2'' diameter) per day???? Correct me please.

Is there a website to clarify my concern?

Thank you in advance,
R.B (Mechanical Engineer)

RB,
Fabrication speed is dependent on many factors. For example:
- are joints ground, aligned, tacked by someone else
- welding position
- welding process and WPS speed
- joint thickness
- distance between one joint to the next
- quantity (number of joints using same WPS etc)
- workshop or field weld

Anyhow, it is quite safe to say that one 2" joint per day is extremely bad unless other factors are very unfavourable.

Hello ifran,

try to get a copy of "Estimators Piping Man-Hour Manual" by John S. Page, Gulf Professional Publishing. This will answer most of your questions.

Kind Regards,
