dear all,

good day

we have three gas reciprocating compressors non lubricated cylinder. They have a lot of triple (damaging in piston rings, riders, stuffing box, valves and also vibrations)the back up N2 is not enough which it cause the H2S to escape to oil sump. after analysing the oil I found the presence of H2S in oil. THE TYPE OF OIL IS ACER 150 WHICH IS A MINARAL OIL .

my question is that lead to crack sulfide stress or is there any more problems could cause by this issue ??

The causes of process gas in the oil sump are very much technology dependent. What kind of compressor are you running (I think we can assume that you are not having piston ring damage in a centrifugal, but is it single acting or double acting, if it is double acting how much gas are you finding in the crosshead).

packing glands are wore and piston rod also
what type of purge gas is run thru packing gland/distance piece

has your purge pressure gone up and amount of purge gas used gone down, if so could be an indication of packing leakage into and pressuring up the distance piece allowing gas to get into crankcase and contaminate oil in the case
