Pressure-Depth Plots 1

Hi,

I am wondering what causes the slope to change when an oil-water contact occurs on a pressure-depth plot. the oil has a certain slope and the water has a certain slope and when they meet, a difference in slopes is seen. why is that? i'm thinking it involves Bernoulli but I'm not sure!

Different pressure gradients result from different fluid densities. Water: 0.447psi/ft oil: say 0.3psi/ ft.....

Some thought is required in posing a question that doesn't show your total lack of understanding of the basic principles of your profession. You really should write the static gradient equation and Bernoulli's equation on a sheet of paper and try to figure out what one has to do with the other and what either has to do with your question. I'll give you a hint, the density in the gradient equation is not an effective density it is a product density.
