Hello, All,
Anyone know if a 1" ball valve with pressure in 3000# WOG rating means the same as 1" ball valve in ANSI Class3000LB?
What is the different between WOG rating and ANSI Class rating?
Thanks.

I don't believe there IS an ANSI 3000. ANSI (Now ASME classes are 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, 2500, 4500. Ref B16.34.

However 3000WOG is a do-not-exceed pressure, at normal ambient.

Thanks for all your response.
So there is no equivalent between WOG rating and ANSI Class rating. So if the maximum working pressure is 3000# WOG, what pressure for the ball valve should I choose?
Thanks.

When you say "the maximum working pressure is 3000# WOG" do you mean that the design pressure of the piping system is 3000 psi ?
If that's what you mean, then you need to choose a valve with pressure rating of at least 3000 psi at your design pressure.
Valve pressure ratings varies with temperature and material of construction even for the same Class. For example, a ANSI Class 1500 carbon steel valve (material group 1.1 per ASME B16.34) has a pressure rating of 3705 psi at 100 F(pressure rating of this same valve drops to 2995 psi at 500 F), while a 316L Stainless steel (material group 2.3) valve of the same Class 1500 will have a pressure rating of only 3000 psi at 100 F (1910 psi at 500 F).
You should check ASME B16.34 for pressure rating of the valve material you want to use.
