Hello all,

1. Is their a minimum MAWP or design pressure that classified a vessel as pressure vessel?

2. I have worked with a lot of suppliers that IN THE PAST have built vessel "in accordance with ASME", as opposed to ASME stamped, is the stamp a code requirement or is it an operations decision, as long as the documentation is provided as to the compliance with code?

As much as possible, do it right the first time...

Assuming ASME VIII-1, no minimum MAWP, however, an MAWP below 15 psi(g) does not need to be designed in accordance with ASME VIII-1.

It may follow all the design and fabrication requirements of the code, but if it is not stamped, then it is not built in accordance with ASME

In the US, the requirement to build to ASME comes from state boiler codes. There may also be building codes, OSHA rules, or insurance requirements than mandate ASME compliance.

There are various items that are excluded from ASME Section VIII by exclusions in the code itself- vessels below 15 psi, piping, very small vessels, hydraulic equipment, engines/compressors, etc. If any item is not required to comply with the code but the code is still used as a standard of design, that's where the "in accordance with ASME" but unstamped comes in.
