Our company manufactures small jacketed pressure vessels that are used all over the country. At any job completion stage, I am required to supply a MDR or Data book to the client. In the MTR section of the book, I have been inserting MTR's for every piece of material used on the vessel. In regards to flanges, I was told today that I am not required by ASME to supply FLANGE MTR's because the flange information is stamped on the edge of the flange. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it stated in ASME?

Mr. Redfish-

Provided your shop QC manual addresses how to deal with non-MTR steel, any component which is not plate does not require an MTR in order to comply with VIII-1 as long as it meets some other ASME spec. Client spec's may add additional restrictions.

Take a look at UG-11 and UG-93.
