PRESSURE VESSELS BUILT IN ITALY 1

I have to check the pressure capacity of some vessels, built inItaly in 1980 and installed in Canada. Since I need to do an ASME design check, I have to find what material was used and dimensions. The name plates show some basic information, including registration numbers, five digits plus the letters 'TV'. I assume that TV might mean the TUV German standard.
My question is: Is there a registration system in Europe, similar to Nat'l Bd in the US, where I could find the information I need?
The manufacturer is no longer in business, so, no help there. Thank you.

TV presumably indicates the town Treviso where the vessel has been registered by the local authority for pressure vessels (

You can write to them stating the registration numbers and asking if they have in the archive the documentation for the vessels.

It was hard getting thru; all I got was the Italian fabricator had gone 'belly-up'; no help whatsoever, on vessel registrations etc...
The owner decided to scrap the vessels, too expensive to repair.

If this vessel has a U stamp and it was brought into Canada, it would also have to have a CRN. The Provincial Boilers Branch would also have to have a copy of the original manufacturer's data report. If the vessel also has a National Board number, the National Board in Columbus, Ohio would also have a copy of the original manufacturer's data report.

If you can still visit the equipment, you should find on the plates the vessel is made of, the ISPESL’s symbol printed on.

It is a small (it is about 10 mm diameter overall) star (5 corners) with inside the letters ISPESL (one for each corner). On the pipes or longitudinal parts you may find a rectangular box with the name ISPESL on the left, a star in the centre, and a number on the right)

Both logos means that the material has been accepted approved) by the board.
As consequence they must have the record of the materials in their archives together with the design calculation, and the proof test done.

As alternative (no ISPESL logo) you should consider the possibility the vessel had been made for exporting only, in that case the Canadian board should be the only involved.

As any Italian governmental body may be hard to keep in touch with them...

Before put the equipment out of service, may I suggest you to let us know the name of the producer, it is possible that the company has been merged (or acquired).

Vessels have been scrapped; No U-stamp and Nat'l Board #, no CRN, only Italian info. shown on nameplates. Since these were wine storage tanks, it would have been too risky to fix for hygienic service. Good riddance, I like my wine stored either in a glass bottle or a st steel 316L barrel! Cheers!
