Prevent associativity with wave-linked bodies/faces 1

I'm designing a new component (NX-8) for an assembly, and because of the size and complexity of the assembly, it's not really feasible for me to do my modeling work with the assembly as the displayed part. The simpler solution would be to WAVE-link the necessary bodies and faces in, but the problem is that when I deliver the model, I have to deliver the parametric model with no WAVE linked features in the file. Is there a way that I can link them in but lock them in such a way that I can't accidentally make an associative link with them so when I'm done, I can just delete all the WAVE link geometry and not lose any sketches or datums or anything?

Thanks!

Just go to the Part Navigator where the WAVE-linked objects are and edit each one toggling OFF the 'Associative' option. This will result in a 'broken-link' but the WAVE-linked objects will remain intact, just that they will no longer be linked to their 'parents', that will no longer be opened when the file is opened. Note that you can always go back later and reestablish or even re-parent these WAVE links if you need to do so.

If you want to "just delete the wave links when you are done", be sure not to use the wave linked geometry as parents for new features you create, or be sure to re-parent your features before deleting the wave linked geometry. For instance, if you create a sketch on a planar face that was wave linked, you will need to create a plane independent of the wave linked geometry and reattach the sketch to it. Otherwise, the wave linked geometry is a parent of the sketch - delete the wave link and the sketch will either be deleted with it or it will get 'orphaned' and may behave in unexpected ways.
