Hey guys, I am working as a structural intern and do not have an official license for RISA 3D. I am trying to find a way to print/export a pdf of a view within the demonstration version without using the snipping tool since it kills the resolution. If anyone has any methods or tricks to be able to do this, I would love to hear them. Thank you

Hey, unfortunately the demo version of RISA-3D intentionally restricts printing and exporting to push users toward the full version, however here are a few work arounds that might help you get a clearer output:

  1. Zoom in before snipping
Maximize the view you’re trying to capture in RISA and zoom in as much as possible before using the snipping tool, this way the resolution will be slightly better when you save the image.
  2. Use a third-party screenshot tool
Instead of the basic snipping tool, try using tools like greenshot or shareX, these allow you to capture high quality images and even adjust the DPI settings for better clarity.
  3. Print to PDF software
Some PDF tools like CutePDF or PDF995 can act as virtual printers. If RISA lets you "print" within the demo but not export, you can select one of these tools as your printer and save the output as a PDF.
  4. Screen recording as a hack
Record your screen while interacting with the RISA model using software like OBS Studio, then pause the video at the desired view and take a high-res screenshot from the recording.
  5. Ask a licensed user for help
If this is for a specific project, you could reach out to a colleague or supervisor who has a licensed version of RISA and ask them to help export the view for you, most people are happy to help interns when asked
Hope one of these tips helps, let me know if you find another clever way around it.
