Private Fire Service Main - Offline hydrants

Does anyone know of any reference that would provide guidance on how many hydrants can be offline- for maintenance or failure event - at any given time when on a private fire service main?
I have checked NFPA 24, 25, IBC and IFC but can't find anything so I assume there is no such guidance?

Did you check the section on Preplanned Impairment Programs in NFPA 25? Also the local code officials and the Fire Department for input? How close is a working fire hydrant in relation to the area of concern. Over 1,000 ft the flows will not be great hence the FD should be involved.

Have not heard the question asked before.

Normally has to be in service at all times, yes down for maintenance, but should be in service as soon as possible

How are you connected with the question

Reason I ask, sometimes there are corporate policies, or insurance company policies, or other private policies

Not sure if ifc appendix for fire flow and spacing could be a criteria, for guidance on how many and where hydrants can be out of service

The number of the hydrants to be in service and/or shutdown may be depended on the required firewater flow as well as the number of the hydrants available in the area. May refer to NFPA 1 or 20 for the additional info.
Also, may contact the AHJ for approval or if additional requirements needed.
