Pro/E Assembly Tree Structure

What if I have a .asm file, and I want to know what part files it references without opening it in Pro/E? Can I do that? Are there ways to trudge through the data in the file and find the names of the files? Would I be able to write a script that could do it?

By Using intralink a PDM s/w of P.T.C., you can check all the files, linked with your file(*.asm) with opening them in Pro/E.

What operating system are you using I used to have a unix scriped which used awk to extract the information from the file. I have found some notes on the script which may help. If you open an assembly file and read through it you will find 3 parameters @model_name @model_type and @bom_count these should point you at the information required. and with a littel bit of programing you can generate a single level BOM
