They're functionally equivalent. Get an up-to-date datecode of Pro/ENGINEER and Service Pack 2 for Vista, and you'll be fine.

The differences between XP and Vista are mostly limited to driver support and security features in the user interface.

Notably, some video card makers failed to release properly-written Vista drivers until around 2008 (Vista was released in late 2006). This caused a vast number of crashes that were incorrectly ascribed to Windows. If your video hardware uses a modern driver, don't expect any issues in that regard.

Also, many users (who'd been used to Windows XP in home and simple corporate environments where they had full administrative rights at all times) were unfamiliar with the fairly good rationale behind the UAC prompts and somewhat overprotective security measures. Vista therefore introduced those users to security features that were present in XP (but often unused), and increased the intrusiveness by configuring the Windows to request administrative privileges for many common actions. The main workaround for Vista compatibility problems is simply to set the program to run with administrative rights by default. (And in fact, Pro/E WF 4.0 doesn't need this extra step on Vista.)

When using WF4 with Vista I was having problems with pre-selection highlighting and selecting (or viewing) anything while trying to assemble parts, but I was able to solve both problems by right clicking the Pro/E Wildfire 4 icon, going to Properties>Compatibility, and selecting the checkbox under Compatibility Mode for "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP"
