Hello
On my work, we have CATIA V26, Pro E and NX 11 and, when i receive STEPs from CATIA, sometimes the solids open.
When i have alot openings i ask to the people of Pro E to just import and export that STEP, after that i have much less openings.
One of the big problems are the tubes, i uploaded 2 images where i show the diference between STEP coming from CATIA and the same STEP after be imported and exported from Pro E.
When i import the STEP coming directly from CATIA, NX divide the tubes, and some times, half of that tube disappear as you can see in the attachment on yellow tube with an arrow;
When i import the same STEP after be imported and exported from Pro E, the tubes dont divide and i dont have any openings on tubes.
I only wanted import STEPs without always asking Pro E to import and export.
There are any option on NX, that i have active, that open the solid so much or at least that divide the tubes?

I attach another image just to show what i have when half or all tube disappear, other tube appear outside of the solid as you can see on this image.

Interesting , i see this phenomenon when i import things created in Creo ( pro/E) using Step.
Cylindrical faces split in 2 and some of these missing.

I think that the underlying reason is that these three systems have different methods of handling cylindrical faces.
Parasolid / Granite / "Catia-solid-modeler" etc.

Have you spoken to GTAC about this ?

Did you try to translate them to NX format with the external translators? (you can find them in the installation folder of NX /STEP203UG or /STEP214UG
You can make more translation settings like heal geometry, Sew faces etc.
The resulting partfile you can then import or use directly.

I see NutAce mentioned the external translators, which is something that I was going to mention -
but if that doesn't work do an Optimize Face on the imported STEP files to make the divided faces into one common face.

Import problems are tricky because you also need to examine the export options from the originating system. Often, we have no control over this - files are sent to us from a second party; but in this situation, it sounds like you have some measure of control over the export as well as the import. If you are using the same import settings in NX and get different results from CATIA and Pro/E, I'd suggest looking at the current export options in the originating system(s).

Tomas no, i didnt spoke to GTAC, i was thinking that was any setting that i had active and needed to be off

In the attachment i show all options that i have active and desactive when i import STEPs
I will try make few tests to see if i have diferent results.

Have you looked at you Catia Export step settings?
