Hello,
I'm new to Adams and I've more than a problem..
I hope you can help me, it's for an examination...

I've to import a part from .stl, .igs, .stp files.

Now, .stl is well imported, but the others no. There are many errors. I cannot understand why. Unfortunately it's very important fot me to use the .igs file because of its better clarity: I've to determine centers of the parts and apply joints directly on the CAD model.

Now the questions:
May I do anything to make possible a better importation in .igs and .stp?

May I work directly on the CAD file?? It is made of more parts, but when model is imported in Adams it has only one part. It seems not recognize different elements, so I can apply joints "2 Bod-1loc" on them. How can I split it in more parts?

Many many thanks,
Francio

You'll almost certainly need to import each part as a separate file.

I suggest you contact MSC if you follow the method in the help and it desn't work

Many thanks Greg.

The problem is that I've only one .stl file.
When I import it, it is recognized as an unique part.

I think I' ll ask for splitted parts of the chain.

I had in mind I could not split a .stl that is seen like a unique part.
But I wasn't so sure...

Best regards,
Francio

Hi,

What you receive kind problems?

I never use .stl, I always use .igs, .stp files from Inventor.
