ProE Wildfire 4.0 configuration options not "applying"

Hi All,

(Wildfire 4.0, M020, Vista x64 ultimate)
I'm trying to change WF from imperial to metric as the default units (mm, kg & mks).

However whenever I try and set anything in tools->options, the Status icon is initially green, but when I press Apply it goes out (and the change doesn't go through). This happens both to the Current Session and %homepath%/config.pro (although the files are saved).

I've tried running ProE as Administrator with no change. I have looked far and wide - the help files only make passing references to the status icon, and my best google skills have not helped out so as my last port of call I hope a clever spark out there knows what is going on :)

The options only apply to new parts/assemblies which don't use a template (start part). The way to change the units in the existing part/assembly & any start parts/assemblies is to go to

Edit -> Setup -> Units

and change the units here, saving the part/assembly with the new setting.

Alrighty, that works for parts/assemblies quiet well. I'd still really like to set it program wide (so it applies to drawings) and I don't have to set it every time I make a new part.

Drawings was my primary goal in changing over (makes it so much easier to get the scale right)

Update: I've managed to get my education edition of Wildfire 3.0 to accept mmns as the default units for parts and assemblies - but when dimensioning (and sketching) in drawings it still uses inches!

Another update, apparently you have to change the drawing_units INCH (to mm?) in a .dtl file... I found several of those about the place but none seemed to have an effect.

Pro/E takes extensive configuration to get everything to work the way YOU want it to work. You need to create your own part, assembly & drawing templates and create your own drawing formats & .dtl files. You also have to create the proper settings in config.pro to point Pro/E to all those templates. You will also probably need to make .pcf plotter configuration files.

Some people think it should come with all this stuff preset but then you would never spend the blood sweat & tears to learn how it all works.
