How do you folks model a headed stud embed plate with a bearing angle welded on to it? Do you try and use the plate analysis by modeling the angle somehow?

Depends but I usually design only the anchors in profis & run hand calculations or use an FEA program for the rest of it. If you have a premium license, there is an option to run FEA within profis (CBFEM under the anchor plate design approach), but the profile options/orientations/load locations it allows are limited. I don't think an angle oriented so that one leg is bearing on/parallel to the baseplate is on there.

RenHen, yes, I have the premium, and finding out they dont have a profile like that. I was just wondering if a flat plate shown on as the profile would do the trick, with the load and eccentricity entered appropriately.

Yeah, if the vertical leg is welded to the baseplate I would think that's a fine way to model it. Probably conservative since it'll concentrate the loads around the vertical plate instead of allowing them to spread more realistically onto the plate through the weld on the horizontal angle leg.
