Program start events

I use program start events to include information that I would like to append to the program header. I find myself getting in and out often to add or modify info, and the number of mouse clicks (mb3, scroll to object, start event)is cumbersome. I called GTAC to see if there were someway to configure program to launch start events when double clicked and was told there wasn't. Then recently I stumbled on a program I'd created earlier that did this very thing.
Only problem is I don't know what I did to cause this.
Any help appreciated, sounds trivial but could save me alot of time.

I just create or modify a tool bar to include the start and end events. Rt click in the tool bar area and go to the bottom and click customize. You can create a new toolbar and name it whatever you want and then add any icons and shortcuts you want by selecting the commands tab and then searching through the subcategories and finding anything you want. It is all there you just have to look some. Save it with your role and then it will be there.

Have you actually found those specific commands? I've looked through twice and can't seem to locate them.
If they're not there I guess I could go the new button route. It'd be a first.
Still, I would like to know why I'm getting the differnt behavior when editing a program.

You need to do 2 things to make this easy.
1. Customize the dialog of the program group and add Start UDE:All events. This is the default for the last several releases.
2. In the Operation Navigator, use MB3, Object, Start Events to add whatever events you want.

Now when you double click the program, all the events are there.

Note that out of the box, we put an operatior message event there so that when you double click there will be a dialog to display.

If you do this a lot, I suggest you create templates for your program groups, with the UDEs you want. If the dialogs get too long, use the collapsible groups or tabbed pages to organize the dialog.

OK here goes...

Sorry I doubted you. Of course you found the commands, they were right there on your toolbar. I eventually found them and now they're on one of my radial pop ups. Thanks

This is a little embarassing but up until recently I've been using the model template (model-plain-1-inch-template.prt) when creating a new mfg file. I even went to some trouble to customize mfg features within that file. Now I'm using the right template (mill_planar_assy.prt), and when I double click (edit) the program, it automatically launches start events as it should.
Just goes to show it pays to do things right

Thanks for the responses.

Ray,
Hey no problem. I know that some of the commands are kinda buried and hard to find. Glad I could help.

Mark,
I like the add the start events to the program header. That is nice. I am going to have to look into templates though I really am only a post developer it may be an advantage even for me. Thanks
