What can be done when your personal peer reviews are shared with other staff? i.e. "I know that you gave him all great reviews" discussed at the coffee pot.

If "I know ..." is a bluff, then confirming or denying the assertion reveals the very secret that you were trying to protect.

Who's doing the sharing & with whom? If it's the reviewer doing the sharing, then a "friendly rebuke" to him/her or his/her superior might be in order.

Are you sure it's being shared & not simply being accessed by ??? from the reviewers computer?

[cheers] & all the best.

What is a "personal peer review"? As far as i understand it a peer review is when you review someboy you consider your "peer". I dont have english (or american) as my mother tounge but as far as i understand "peer" means "equal". I dont see why a peer review should be confidential. I would not like to be reviewed without knowing by whoom or to review somebody "under cover". You should allways be able to stand by your testimony and have the option to defend your self.

Peer reviews are used by some companies as part of an employee's annual review process. In some cases, other "superiors" and lower level personnel take part in what has been termed the 360 degree process. The intent being to see how well the individual interacts with all levels of the organization.

Confidentiality of such information is up to the employer, usually documented in an employee handbook. In most cases I have seen, review information is not made public knowledge. The intent I suppose is that anonymity allows for free criticism without exposure to retaliation. How well it works, like any review system, is open to debate.

Well it must be some fad that hasnt reach my country yet (and i hope i dosnt). Whats the point in anonymous reviews? I simply cant see it! In my oppinion its purely gossip. Maybe if the review is the staff reviewing their superior - since they may fear rehataliation - but still.

Best regards

I think you will need 360 degree feedback if you don't know what is going on. One of these typical HR things.
