My question is the following:

When calculating the static head on a progressive cavity pump, is it correct to take the difference between discharge and suction water levels (as with a centrifugal), or is the static head the difference between the pump centerline and the discharge water level?

I reasoned that since there is not an open path from the suction through to the discharge side of the pump, that the static suction head should be neglected when making this calculation.

Am I correct?
