DO any of you use web based project document management systems......ones where remote users can log in and view documents?

If so which ones would you recommend or if you don't want to name them then what features do you like?

Alternatively have you use an Intranet based system.

I'd like one which was easy to use and organised documents into Projects - with an index page of projects.

I'd also like a document change contol system too so that the latest documents are available but older issues can also be archived.

It would be nice to have a template area where common template documents could be found but I guess this is just a specialised folder.

Last I'd like a message board per project where discussions could take place.

My company uses Livelink. It has a version and revision system. I won't recommend it simply because I don't have experience with alternatives to compare it to.

I've used livelink and it's ok. The one drawback was that it is difficult to explore......you need to know the exact locations (unless of course you use search). It's also difficult to drag and drop documents into (although it can be done).

I think you can use hyperlinks in Livelink but I never spent enough time to find out how to do it.

Doesn't sound that different than Windchill. It's a pain to use for creating and maintaining documents, unless you've got a hotshot programmer that can tailor the user interface to the correct functionality.

Likewise, finding stuff can be quite nontrivial.
