Proof Loads for offshore lifts 1

Hi,

i am currenlty looking to find an acceptable Proof Load for an offshore lifting application. the lifting engineers handbook refers to International Labours Organisation (ILO) and has a proof load (for 50t) = SWL * 1.04 + 9.6t. Does this value include dynamic Aplication factor for offshore? Is this a sutiable industry standard?

the best industry standard for design related to offshore lifts is DNV 'rules for planning and execution of marine operations'all the big offshore contractors use this as standard. You should try to get your hands on it. If its a shackle or similar (for 50Te) it should be proofed at 1.22 x SWL+20Te
