Hi there--first post.

I have a gas plant that uses the cryogenic process (For the propane refrigeration--3 compressors) to achieve our pipeline spec.

I was informed that the liquid level switch on the inlet scrubber for 1 of the 3 compressor skids has formed ice around it, and damaging the switch beyond repair. It is only one of the three, and this one is the third in line on the suction header.

These operate at approximately 2-8 psig. The first being at about 8psig, the second at 5psig, and the third(ice issue) at 2 psig.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated in understanding and troubleshooting this problem.

Thanks!

Matt

Have you thought of insulating the seating surface so that no moisture can come in contact. Show us a picture of the ice build up.

You can also dry out the air if the compressors are mounted inside as well as insulating the control.
