I have a customer that keeps telling me that hole's need to be dim'd in the crossection only. He will not allow any leader's to call out dia's. I have always tryed to show holes and rounds in views that show them as what they are.

Is there a standard or standard practice for this?

Or is the customer always right?

It all depends on the customer but, no the
customer is not always right. That's just
how he was taught and is used to.

It will also depend on knowledge and
experience. Some people will tell you
that Ansi 1994 is not the proper way to do
Geometric Tolerancing. Because they are
old school or the people in the shop
can't even speak English and they won't
understand what GD& T means.

So you don't use GD& T even though that
is what you are taught.

So to answer your question, just do business
as usual. I was taught to dimension holes
from a side view or section view unless it
requires a positioning dimension.

The only time I can think of to use leaders for dimensioning a hole would be as a hole note, for example counter-bored or counter-sunk holes.
