Pros and cons of PVD coating

Does anyone know how wear resistant this coating is? I'm considering using a black pvd coating, but i'm rather concerned that the finish won't last.


Any opinions would be gratefully appreciated

The most common PVD coatings are titanium nitride (TiN). titanium carbonitride (TiCN), or chromium nitride (CrN). If the coating is black then it is probably TiCN. The coating is used on machining tools and has superior wear resistance and toughness so depending on application should last for as long as desired.
