Hi folks ,
Can anyone explain the details of pull out test required to check the strength of tube to tubesheet joint with expansion only.
I need a brief methodology and the standard for acceptance criteria.

Hi,

I have two questions. According to ASME Code Sec I:

1) What is the miminum tube wall reduction in percentage after expansion for watertube boiler?

2) Is the minimum thickness is the same in firetube boiler?

Thank you.

Actually these are usually tested as push-out tests.
But yes with some searching you will find test methods.
While apparent wall reduction is often referred to, the actual process control is the rolling torque. So people make a mock up tube sheet, usually with a range of hole sizes. And then they roll tubes with a range of rolling torques.
If this is re-tube they will need to put tubes into it, then extract them, then do the testing.

Ask your vendor to share their process for this with you.
