Hello everyone.

Another bearing question. Same conveyor system but this time the pulley bearing that I am curious about.
OEM instruction is to grease every 1-2 weeks by pumping grease until we see new grease coming out.
So the question is coming out of what? How do I know that the seal is designed to allow grease to flow through?
Is that how all seals work?
What about image number 3, is that a damaged seal?
What about pumping grease till it comes out, how much is too much?

I am curious about the end assembly that houses the bearing. It looks like the cap that is bolted to the barrel houses the bearing and seal. Does this assembly has a name that I may use to search for drawings to understand it's design.

In my experience it's unwise to use an actual grease seal as a grease relief feature. Is there a grease relief fitting or a plug that can be removed to release excess grease?

Was the original design a labyrinth or shield? Because then you can say that it makes sense to see grease 'appear' out of that location. But if you replaced the shield with a grease seal then it might not be able to release the old grease without building up excess pressure.

Also is the shaft rotating when the grease is added? I expect the grease seal will relieve pressure better if it's rotating.
 
I believe the assembly is called a static pulley.

It uses a static shaft, while the drum rotates.
