Hi all, if anyone can help with the it would be very much appreciated.

I'm trying the cut 10mm Mild Steel on a 2.2kw bysprint. The cut is very good, and clean - but the pulse pierce is not so good. The head comes down and as soon as it starts the pierce it sprays up a load of sparks, then continues to pulse pierce and carrys on fine. This doesn't happen every time, but probably on about half of the pierces! I've tried everything and can't stop it - and it ends up building up on the nozzle which needs cleaning/replacing!

As i said earlier the cut is good, its just the very start of the pierce. The material is clean and rust free! Any ideas would be great.

Thanks, SJClaser!!

There may be many reasons for this phenomenon most common error is the wrong focus point.

To large beam diameter that strikes the sheet.

The Beam

This may be too much power at the beginning of the piercing, or too much gas pressure for the piercing.

Hi all, thanks for the replys,
I think is is standard pulse pierce not not totally sure! I did fiddle the gas pressure but that didn't really help much.
I will check the focal position, but the actual cut edge was good so i didn't think it would be this.

Im not sure abotu the beam purge filters??? i will find out about this!!

Thanks All.
