Trying to determine proper shaft material for a 2000 HP verticle turbine pump 34 feet long three section shaft used in secondary waste water treatment plant to pump effluent to trickling filters. The suggested material is ANSI 410 tensile 111596 psi yeild 87269 psi and elong. at 25.9. Is this material suitable for this application.

410 SS is a standard shaft materail for all sizes in this type pump.
We have over the years made an effort to change out the 410 SS to 22-13-5 material. This was done because of some corrosion problems in our pumps while on standby. Most of our pumps are in different water services. This has been accomplished by using off the shelf boat shafting. The boat shafting comes already straightened and finished. Our supplier usually has any machining done or we do it in house.

We use Aquamet 22 HS or Aqualoy 22 HS.
