As per API 610, clause 5.4.2.1, for one and two stage pumps the suction and discharge flange rating shall be of same. Does this clause means that for higher stages pumps , where in the Discharge pressure is going to bevery high we can have suction and discharge flanges of different ratings? If so , whether the suction nozzle flange rating are designed for Hydrotest pressure? Please clarify.

You can have different ratings, which can cause pressure limit problems with the suction side, for instance when you might have to recirculate back to suction for start-up or shut-down, in which case it is important to make sure that the suction is not exposed to higher pressure than for that which it is rated.
