Hi all, I needed some concept clarity regarding punching shear calculations as per BS EN 1992.1.1 for base slab resting on a piled structure.
I am currently carrying out design Punching shear checks as per (BS EN 1992.1.1 CL 6.4.3 & 6.4.4) for a base slab 400mm thick and resting on piles (Pile Diameter - 200mm approx.)&
(fck = 35 Mpa)
I have used eq. 6.47 (Cl 6.4.4) to calculate punching shear resistance for a slab;
vRd.c = (CRd.c k(100pl . fck)^0.333 + k1.scp) > (vmin + k1.scp)
for above equation I have assumed axial loading on slab is equal to zero hence the term (scp = 0)
from above equation the value of vRd.c should be greater than equal to vmin, but in my case the vRd.c value is coming out to be less than vmin value.
hence I am stuck here of what should I do or am I doing anything wrong and which value to be used for further calculations (vRd.c or vmin)
('pl' is tensile reinforcement ratio & 'scp' is normal concrete stress in critical section which is considered zero here)
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.
I am new to Eurocode and still learning.
I t would be great if anyone can help.
thank you in advance
