Hi,
Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I'm wondering if there is a mechanical system that already exists that has a button pop up when a trigger is activated and when pressed will release pressure while locking in the down position to wait for the next trigger.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help, I'm looking for a pure mechanical solution without electricity though. Any thoughts?

I've seen some ball point pens that do that, trigger is underneath the clip so when you put it in your shirt pocket it retracts. Can't really expect a better answer without giving some idea of scale or application you're looking at.

Excess flow valves work that way. At some critical flow they pop up and block all flow, you push down the cap to resume flow.

You just described the firing mechanism of a revolver. Put a button on the hammer and you have it.
