Push/Pull Core Tester Part Help

Hi All,

I am a designer that has just started working in the automotive industry and i do alot of jig, fixtures and core building machines for radiators on a range of car makes. I am current designing a push-pull Core leak tester for the new BMW X5.

I have recieved a drawing from the customer of a G.A (DXF File) With no detail and i have to draw it up in 3D using Solidworks, the problem i have is identifying a catalogue part and as i am new to machine design i was wonder if someone could pleaseee help me.

Attached is a pdf of the original drawing and a note to the part that i think is a linear bearing from DME?????

Looks like a sleeve from Dme yes? Whats the problem? They do a wide range of sleeves and bushings for mould tool building.

Also looks like, or should/could be a 'recirculating ball linear bearing'.

I have no idea of the tolerances you need, so check it out, they vary.
Cost per bearing also varies dramatically to cater for said tolerance.

Thankyou for you help, the problem is am trying to figure out what the part is please see attached pdf of actualy part i dont know tolerances either i just measured the part from a dxf file and re-drawn it up is s/works.

I am only saying its a linear bearing cause thats what i have been told have no idea what it is!

Since you need just one threaded hole at the end for locating consider the dowels on page 30.5. But, it seems nothing in the catalogue matches your latest pdf drawing. This means three things, the original draftsman has a catalogue you dont, he has left the choice of pin, or manufacture up to you, or DME carry items not listed that he has used before.

If its up to you to sort this out, then make a decision and go with it. If you dont have the final call, email the guy and ask him where he wants you to source assembly, and if you are allowed to either machine the pin yourself(It will have to be ground) Or if you can buy ground stock, and preform secondary machining on it, mainly, drilling/tapping the fixture hole in one end.

It looks like some sort of shaft as it has diameter call outs.
And is missing the diameters for the steps on the RH side, though looks the same as the ones on the LH side. There is no callout for the size of chamfers either. It could be some sort of link or idler shaft since there are no keyways. You need to know what suppost to mate to it before you can establish the tolerances.
