I'm working on a pile and lagging wall with a silty sand backfill and there is no bedrock close to my excavation line, therefore I'm only relying on soil for my passive resistance. After running some initial calcs in MathCad I put it into PYWall and was told by our engineer to check my p-y curve with my resistance curve to make sure we're not exceeding the soils resistance capacity. This seems like a very simple process, but its proving to be challenging to me. Can somebody explain how to do this? And I'm also having trouble figuring out what units are being used on the PY-Curve depths. It say like Depth17, Depth31, Depth61....etc. Anybody have any idea on what units these are. I looked through the manual and the only question I got answered was this depth was from the base of the excavation.

You can find the equations you need in "Foundation Analysis" book by R.F. Scott, 1981.
