My friend and I are designing and building a Wood Gasifier for supplying fuel for a gasoline/electric generator. He has a Quadra Fire Wood stove and has suggested using the quadra fire principle to generate fuel for our gas/elec module.
The The process of converting wood to gaseous fuel in one type of Wood Gasifier is as follows;
At the top of the fuel chamber, heat dries biomass (CHO) creating H20 which is drained off.
Lower, in the fuel chamber, charcoal and tar are created at 300-600C
Lower, in the combustion chamber, at 1000C tarry gas or charcoal are formed along with H20 and C02.
The charcoal falls into the reduction chamber where heat, at 800C, acts as a catalyst to change the H20 and CO2 into H2 and CO gases which are pulled into the gas engine via the carburator.
I could not find the help I needed with a web search to learn what is the physics/chemistry of the quadra fire gas for coamparison of efficeincy of the two systems. I am ignorant of how the quadrafire works chemically. Can anyone explain that please?
