Subject: Qualifying Two Test Processes on One Plate
Code Edition: D1.1:2006
Code Provision: Tables 4.2 and 4.11
AWS Log: D1.1-06-I18b
Inquiry: (1) Can I qualify two welding processes on one test plate?
(2) Do I use the deposited weld metal thickness for each weld process to establish the range of
thickness qualified?
Response: (1) Yes.
(2) AWS D1.1:2006 does not address the range of qualified deposit thickness where more than
one process is combined within the same test plate.

Since the code itself allows multi process PQRs but it doesnt address the range of qualified deposited thickness for individual processes ?Then how someone can calculate the individual process thickness qualified.
Like ASME there is no t on AWS.

AWS has no provisions for qualifying more than one process on a single test assembly. They will permit the contractor to combine WPSs so more than one process can be used on a production joint. The WPSs combined can be qualified by testing, they can be prequalified WPSs, or a combination of prequalified and qualified to meet production requirements.
