Im hoping a Level III or someone can answer my question about ASME section V , Article 6, liquid penetrant examination.
T-692 Examination records gives information that must be recorded I am questioning specifically (C)
“(c) type (number or letter designation of each penetrant, penetrant remover, emulsifier, and developer.
The definition of “type” In ASME V, section F
type: the descriptive term used for designating a penetrant as either fluorescent (type1) or visible (type 2).
There is a table in article 24, SE165 that shows classification of penetrant examination types and methods that when used with a visible or fluorescent penetrant would result in six different liquid penetrant techniques. I.e. Type II, Method C, = Visual, solvent removable as well in article 24 it lists different types of developers i.e. Aqueous Developer & non Aqueous developer.
On a report I am questioning if I list the following two options which option would be in compliance with the details listed in C above from ASME. specifically, what do they mean by Type and number or letter designation……
Penetrant Type= Magnaflux SKL-SP2 or Visible Type II
Penetrant remover= Magnaflux SKC-S or solvent removable Method C
Developer= Magnaflux SKD-S2 or non-aqueous form E.
Note: I got form “E” from the magnaflux website: “Classification: Form d Non-aqueous Type 1 Fluorescent (solvent based). Form e Non-aqueous Type 2 Visible Dye (solvent based).” I did not see this in ASME section V and I do not know where this “E” comes from
Or from a different penetrant family
Penetrant Type=Ardrox 906 or Visible Type II
Penetrant remover= Ardrox 9PR50 or solvent removable Method C
Developer= Ardrox 9D1B or non-aqueous form E.
The link for form “e”
I did not see this in ASME section V and I do not know where this “E” comes from can someone tell me where this letter of designation can be found?
I hope someone out there can help clear this up
