Hello,
I am currently designing utility manholes for a certain city in Canada. As I am going through the CSA S6-19 highway bridge design code, I found Clause 7.8.6.3.2 to be quite unclear. The clause states that the earth pressure on box structures shall be calculated with earth pressure arching factors lambda v and lambda h to obtain the maximum positive and negative moments in the structure walls. These factors are obtained in Table 7.14 based on two different installation types B1 and B2. However, I am unable to find anywhere in the code that states what exactly the two installation types B1 and B2 are. I have gone through the entire code and was unable to find an explanation of the installation types. Does anyone with experience with the highway bridge design code know exacly what B1 and B2 are?
Thank you for your help!
