Hi all,

As a useful excersize for my novice self, I have modelled a 3rd floor 300thk RC slab (that has already been built) using FEM, so that I can add loads in certain places to see the behaviour of the slab and supports...

In my FE model (using Autodesk Robot), I have added linear pinned supports (along openings) where ever shear walls are present (please see attached a snip shot of my model and the slab layout) and fixed connections where there are RC columns.

Would this be a reasonable assumption to analyze this slab?

For building perimeters, if both slab and shear wall are CIP concrete, I've difficulty to see a pin in the interface. Otherwise maybe fine, depending on wall-shear wall joint details.

It's not a pinned connection.....but then again it's not perfectly fixed either. (If detailed like a fixed connection to each other.)

In general I have found that the moment at that interface is typically not more than what it is in the middle of a bay.
