Hai all.

Good day. I would like to know how quick opening closure are designed from scratch. I understand that it takes year of experience and understanding to design one for use in pressure vessel. I cant seem to find a definitive answer on how and where to find the design calculations regarding this.
As per ASME 35.2, it does not specify any specific design calculations but rather says that we should design QOC by mechanical calculations.

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

I've looked into this as well, and was unable to locate any design guides. From my understanding, quick opening closures are proprietary designs, and those companies that have gone through the learning curve keep that knowledge a closely guarded secret (otherwise many of them would be out of business...).

The one that I was recently trying to find design guides for was the breech lock, if you happen to find anything on these, please PM me.

Good luck.

Hai Marty,

Unfortunately im in the same dilemma with you about the breech lock. Have tried finding everywhere for a proper design guide but to no avail.

I guess this is a really tightly kept secret.
