"Bounding Body" Unstable in Clone, Make Unique & Re-use: BEWARE

FYI - The Body becomes dis-joint from the target body in what "appears" to be random conditions.

It moves in both position and size... making it impossible to use it for dimensional reporting.
Ex: Placing Associative measurements on it and dragging the values into a parts list.

I've only been able to duplicate the error using "Update For External Change"

If the Body is in visually good order and reporting correct sizes...
Run Update for External Change, the body shifts, reporting bad dims.
**But you get no failure notification**

Suppress / Unsuppress corrects it
Re-selecting the target body also corrects it.

I have an IR in on this that's been rolled into a PR

If anyone else has had issues with this please reach out.
It's a critical failure in NX's ability to reliably report dimensional data from Stock Bodies to a parts list.

I've got an extensive library of Re-Use parts that are built on this method.
They are a nightmare to stay on top of... constantly failing and needing to be fixed.

This also effects the Tooling Wizard Tool "Stock Body"
That tool shares code with "Bounding Body" and fails in the same conditions.
But it's invisible on the graphics screen and not on the feature tree.... that makes it and even more insidious problem.

In case anyone runs across this issue...

It was found to be a legit failure in this features functionality.
It also effects the PDW Stock Size command...
That command is built on top of an invisible Bounding Body Feature so they share the same problem.

I've received notification that it will be resolved by code changes in Version NX1847 due out in January.

It really surprises me that I didn't get any traffic on this thread from anyone else experiencing the same problem.
This was so pervasive in my parts, it was a real nightmare.

This must be a lightly used feature in NX.

You are not alone on this.
It's quite typical that "Bounding body" and subsequent features (Trim usually)to fail in MoldWizards parting file.
My solution: edit "Bounding box", change "Size Rounding" to random, then change back, push "OK".

Dave,
Have you requested a fix for your current version of NX ?

FYI,
Siemens normally only creates a bugfix for the next NX version when one reports an problem.
You have to request a fix for the specific version you are running. - In case you won't update the NX version soon.

Regards,
Tomas

@ Aikon
Is "Random" a thing in NX12 for Size Rounding?
I'm not seeing that in NX 11.

If so is it a solid work around solution for these bodies becoming disjoint from the target body?

@ Toost
I was simply delivered an email resolution letter saying that this would be fixed in NX1847.

There wasn't any information about the option of a bug fix.

Is this a protocol thing I'm entitled to submit a request for?

Little extra info...
This Stock Body command was transferred to a different development group when it was included in the basic modeling system.

From the outside looking in, it appears that may have been the beginning of stability issues with this tool.
