One of our clients is experiencing this error message every time they execute the 2006 PDMW stand alone client utility.
Any suggestions as to how to cure this problem?
Thanks.

My first guess is that the swDocumentMgr.dll file is corrupt or improperly registered. It usually resides in

C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared

Try replacing this file on the affected machine with one from a functioning machine.

-handleman, CSWP (The new, easy test)

Tell them not to "execute the 2006 PDMW stand alone client utility". [tongue]

Seriously though, this is a WAG so no guarantees given:
Close all programs and reboot, then try Start > Run and type regsrv32 swDocumentMgr.dll

Which version of SW are they using?

Doesn't regsvr32 require entering the full path to the file... probably in quotation marks because there are spaces in the file path?

-handleman, CSWP (The new, easy test)

Try doing a search for swDocumentMgr.dll on your machine, then copy and paste the path into the Run field.

Or try the path that handleman posted, appended with the dll.

neither option worked. Using SW2006

Umm, if you don't know the full path, how in the world did you replace the file with one from a working machine?

I got this same message last week and my VAR told me to try and repair SolidWorks Explorer installation.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in your control panel, Click on SolidWorks, and select Change, in the first screen, there is a link at the bottom to "Repair this installation", click that, and repair SolidWorks Explorer.

This worked for me in SW2008, it may work for you also.
