Hello All,
From the perspective of incident investigators, is there an accepted definition of an "explosion" of a vessel?
A vessel might rupture, rip apart, and violently release its contents. But if the vessel remains in one piece, is that an explosion?
If the vessel blows apart into many pieces, I would think that is a clearly an explosion.
Is there a dividing line used by investiagators to classify explosions?
This isn't an idle query. I think there is a classification of catastrophic events used by fire investigators and others. For example, there is BLEV (boiling liquid expanding ????) and deflagration (flash fire) and jet fire.
So - what defines an explosion?
Cheers,
John. Cheers,
John.
