I ran across an article recently that addresses the issues surrounding the U.S. patent system. In it, its author Murrary Slovick covers the problems with the current patent system. He also goes into detail about the big companies that have opposing views as to what should be done to the system to fix it.

Points covered are proposed changes to U.S. patent law including the topic of the first-to-file standard :)Þ), balance apportionment of damages :)Þ), restrict the shopping for favorable trail venues, windows for post-grant patent challenges, and establishment of standards regarding willful infringement damages. It appears there are several sides to the issues.
