We were already in NX1872
This weekend GM is pushing a new update to a different version. The top still says NX1872 but also says (UG PDL 12) in the header.

In our current version, when we go to Customize, on the left side of the Commands section, there is a "Classic Toolbars (As Groups)" section we can expand. Within this section, we can find all of the toolbars we have in a Startup folder

In the new version we are setting up, that Classic Toolbars section is not available.

If I leave it on "All Commands" and type in the search the name of a button I have created, it will find it. But it doesnt have the dropdowns. It has all the buttons inside a drop down separately. Before it was simple to expand the Classic Toolbars, scroll down to our companies toolbars and see all the buttons we have created.

Does anyone know how to get that Classic Toolbars section back?

Why would it find so many of the separate buttons but not the toolbars?

Check your ROLE, and verify that you are in the same one that you previously were.

I can add my role and all my buttons will be there. This is another reason I am confused because it shows it is reading the folder where all of our buttons and toolbars are kept.

One problem is that I am often creating new buttons and sometimes someone will learn about a button I already made. Everyone here knows to go to Customize, expand the "Classic Toolbars" category, and go to our company's toolbars to find the buttons. Only now there is not "Classic Toolbars" category to expand.

The other problem is with Drop Down buttons. I have one for example that has around 20 different notes in it. Now we cant find that drop down anywhere. All the buttons from inside the drop down are available as single buttons but no drop down. If I was to create a new Drop Down, how would anyone load it if they cant find it?

Thanks cowski

It seems there is a category for All Dropdowns that has them. It is not as optimal as the old way because it has all the dropdowns and not just the ones we created, but at least they can be added.

So is the "Classic Toolbars" category now gone? Where I should let I.T. know to not worry about trying to retrieve it?

Hi Kenja824,

Please consider this tip Link to convert legacy .tbr toolbar files to .grb extension.

And this tip Link for where to relocate the files to in the directory hierarchy for the NX UI customizations.

To summarize, rename and relocate the .tbr file to .grb and place it in the ...\application\profiles\all or application specific subdirectory.

The NX Customize UI will display these converted tbr files in the All Groups section of the tree.

I hope this helps,

Joe

I usually stay a release or 2 ahead of GM, so last year I went to 1899 series instead of whatever 1892 was a part of.

I found it easier to rebuild my Role than trying to use the toolbars, some as old as 2001.

The jump from NX1899series-NX1919 to 1973 wasn't too bad- except for Sketch
Have fun with the new sketcher... don't just try it on a job. watch the day one video and some youtube ones. it's a different animal.

jpetach;

Thank you for that advice. I finally had some time to dig into that and it works good. I even like this better than how it was personally. I just created a ribbon that had each of the toolbar files listed in it. Now they hit customize and just go to the one tab for our company and can see all of our buttons in different groups.

Rob N,
You do know that you can switch off the new sketcher and use the "Classic"?
"File-Utilities-Early access Feature - Use the classic solver and UI for sketching, Right click in the "State column" on/off.

Tomas

@tomas,
I did not know that. The new sketcher isn't all that bad. It's the future of the software so I might as well get used to it.
