Hi All,

I'm building a tank heat loss spreadsheet with reference to the article "Predict Storage Tank Heat Transfer Precisely" and have noticed that in the article example they are multiplying the liquid phase Grashof number by 100 and not the vapour phase. I can't figure out why they would do this and am wondering if anyone else has looked into it. The formula is:

Ngr = L^3 * p^2 * g * B * dT / u^2
Ngr = 4.68^2 * 4.17E8 * 1E-6 / (40*2.41)^2 * L^3 * dT
Ngr = 0.975 * L^3 * dT

But the example has 97.5 * L^3 * dT as the solution. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Coefficient of thermal expansion may be a typo. 0.000001/F is too low. Might be 0.0001/F

 
That was my thinking too quark, just wanted to see if anyone else had come across this. Thanks
