Hi
I have a quick question.
I am changing names of parts in assembly very often. I want to do "save as" part in new name but old named part still exist on disc.
Is there possibility to "Rename" part in that way that original named part is erased. I am manually deleting old files after "saving as".

Can I Rename parts files with deleting old named part ?

Not that I'm aware of, at least not when running in 'native mode'.

If all you are interested in is changing the name in the assembly navigator/BOM list, you can right click on the component to bring up the properties dialog and give it a different name (on the general and/or parameters tab depending on your version of NX). Then you can configure the assembly navigator and/or parts list to use your descriptive part name rather than the file name.

Hi
Thank you for your answer.
I need option for changing names of files not only name of components in assembly :) but thank you for suggestion also.
I have habits form Solid Works and there were option to "Rename" files.
Thanks :)

@all

Also a question about “Save As" + deleting old named part
We are also working in Native Mode and often we have the problem, when opening an assembly part with several changes, after opening and looking for pull down Menu “Information/ Part/ Loaded Parts” we can see old Components with the remark “Not Loaded”. These old Components have in the meantime another name, are renamed with Save As or maybe renamed in the explorer and replaced in the assy. structure.
The problem is, in this list we see the old and new component names, but the old ones are already deleted in the system.
How can we correct this, Part Cleanup and Refile Part was already made, but unsuccessfully. With small Assy. the Part Cleanup works, but not on large Assy. with several sub-levels.

thanks in advance ;)

In part cleanup, change the "part" option to work part and components before you run the cleanup. Make sure you have write permission to all the files before you run the cleanup then save your files.

I've seen some situations where part cleanup will leave these references, but it takes care of about 90%+ of the cases. I use the options: clean interpart links and delete unused objects.

Thanks for your help, yes I use the same way to clean up the parts.
But now I have found, if I do the part cleanup in NX8 it works 100%, but in NX7 I always see also the old componend names.

It seems it's a bug in NX7.
