I have new computer. There are 2 drives, primary one being SSD and the secondary being the usual magnetic disk.

When I "search programs and files" , only those located in the primary seem to turn up. How to fix?

I don't think that the OS really cares what technology the drive is. I don't know of a specific fix for that in Windows. However, there are 3rd party tools like Everything that work pretty well

I think Agent Ransack can do that.

It probably depends on what has been highlighted before you started the search. It normally searches all drives if you highlight "Computer" or "My Computer" or "This PC" (8.1).

xwb,

This is WIN7, and search has been totally dumbed-down. There are no choices whatsoever. You merely type in what you are looking for. grrrr...

Ooops - my bad...

I should have clicked on "See more results"....then I see the directory choices .

Thanks, problem solved.
