"This unit is invalid" error. Swx - Excel

I have been getting a puzzling error recently. I will be working in Solidworks and get distracted and minimize SWx and go and work in other programs such as Outlook Express, Cadkey, AutoCad, Excel etc. This happens all the time, I may have solidworks minimized for a few hours. The only time I have a problem is if I'm in Excel and I try to minimize it or exit it or even just bring Solidworks up. I will have Solidworks in my taskbar start blinking and Excel locks up. I then have to maximize Solidworks and I get an error saying "The unit is invalid". I hit ok, minimize Solidworks, bring Excel up and there is another error with something about OLE integration. I hit ok and then I can save and exit Excel and get into Solidworks again. This does not happen every time that I am in these two programs, just on ocasion. It is very annoying and I can't figure out how to stop it!! I do not have design tables or even BOM's in the SWx files that I am working in.
Any ideas???!!!

Hello,

I am not sure what is causing this. There are a couple possibilities.

"The unit is invalid" message has appeared in systems that did not have the VBA correctly installed (this is typically due to having the virus checker turned on during a SolidWorks install).

I have a question. Can you create a dimension with math operations or do you get an error?

For example, try entering 3+2 in a dimension.

I get errors sometimes when doing that, but only in certain spots and not all the time. (That is frustating too). I never had the problem with entering math operations until I upgraded to Plus. I am suposed to be getting a new computer with windows 2000, but now I have NT. I was told by someone to make sure I am on service pack 6. I have upgraded to that and I will see what happens. I will be upgrading to 2003 soon and this may be a non-issue then.

Hello Brooke,

It appears that the VBA in your system did not install correctly. When you upgrade to SolidWorks 2003, you may want to completely uninstall SolidWorks 2001Plus first. Please turn off all programs (including virus checkers) when installing SolidWorks 2003.

If you continue to have problems, there is a way to install the SolidWorks VBA from the SolidWorks Install CD. I did this before on a customer's computer, in SolidWorks 2001Plus. This procedure may have changed in SolidWorks 2003, your best bet would be to contact your SolidWorks reseller.
